“My neighbor, friend and one of the wisest, most talented and best people I’ve ever met, Philip Baker Hall, died peacefully last night.”announced the journalist from Los Angeles TimesSam Farmer, on Twitter, sharing a brief tribute to Hall, noting that the actor has died, surrounded by his family.
“He was surrounded by loved ones. The world has empty space he added.
Hall’s on-screen merits span decades with titles such as “Secret Honor”, “Hard Eight”, “The Truman Show”, “Argo” and “Zodiac”.

Hall’s career also includes television with series such as “Seinfeld”(1989-1998).
He was also from “Hard Eight”, the first film by director Paul Thomas Anderson, with whom he will work again in “Magnolia” (1999) and “Boogie Nights” (1997). Hall’s collaboration with Anderson began with the 1993 short film Coffee and Cigarettes, which became Anderson’s feature-length directorial debut in 1996. The role earned Hall an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Actor.
Other of his outstanding roles in film, where he was generally a supporting role, are in films such as “Midnight Run” (1988), “The Truman Show” (1998), “The Insider” (1999), “Zodiac” (2007). ) and Dogville (2003).

Hall, who was born in Toledo, Ohio, on September 10, 1931, made his feature film debut in the 1970 film Cowards, for concealing military service in the Vietnam War.
He also appeared in films such as “The Rock”, “The Talented Mr. Ripley” and “Air Force One”.
Hall, whose first television appearance was in an episode of Good Times, also played a doctor in Curb Your Enthusiasm and a grumpy neighbor in Modern Family. His most recent television role was as Zelman Katz in the 2020 Netflix series Messiah.
He received critical acclaim in 1984 for his role as disgraced former President Richard Nixon in Robert Altman’s Secret Honor.
