The Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Nation, through the National Fire Management Service (SNMF), is part of the first NOA regional exercise to be held in Choromoro Municipality, Tucuman Province, involving forest fighters from this jurisdiction and the provinces. Salta, Jujuy and Catamarca and the national parks in the region. The training session, which will continue until tomorrow, was attended by agents of the Argentine Federal Police and volunteer firefighters from the host province.
Among the exercises considered were air transportation and work with pumping equipment and hand tools. SNMF provided a hydrant aircraft for fire control and refueling practices, and Tucuman provided a helicopter to transport crew members.
The exercise was organized at the last regional meeting in May in Catamarca and is important for correcting operational issues for the next fire season in northwestern Argentina. Lautaro Vazquez, NOA Regional Coordinator, spoke on behalf of SNMF.
It should be noted that the Office is organized in six regions. These are operational areas that are serviced, as required, by air and ground teams and have a responsible coordinator. Each region has a high fire season according to the time of year in which the most critical fire sources are registered. In the case of northwestern Argentina, this period lasts from July to December.
